The empowerment of women and girls is not only important for an equitable society, it is essential to build stronger economies, achieve internationally agreed-upon development goals, and improve the quality of life of women, men, families, and communities.
WUSC promotes women’s empowerment by offering them opportunities for leadership and full participation. Our programs advance these aims through:
- delivering basic literacy, numeracy, and vocational training to women in South Sudan;
- promoting women’s leadership in marginalized communities in Sri Lanka;
- improving the economic empowerment of women in Afghanistan by developing their business skills, increasing their employability;
- educating family and community members on the important role of women in the workplace in Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
