Faculty Advisors
Faculty and staff advisors play a vital role in supporting the activities of student-led WUSC Local Committees on campus. Their specific responsibilities vary from campus to campus depending on the advisor's availability and the Local Committee's level of self-sufficiency. Typically, an advisor may: - support the Local Committee
- provide advice and support
- liaise with senior administration
- help the committee access campus services
- guide, encourage and motivate members
- offer continuity from year to year as committee membership changes.
- support the Student Refugee Program
- help prepare and coordinate a sponsored student's arrival and orientation to campus and life in Canada
- act as contact person and mentor to the student refugee
- ensure Local Committee members meet regularly with the student refugee to monitor his/her progress
- guide the Local Committee in finding part-time and seasonal work for the sponsored student
