WUSC is currently active in both southern and western Africa. View the map. Southern Africa In Botswana we are implementing a variety of development programs in education & health, sustainable livelihoods, and governance. In Malawi, WUSC works in central and southern parts of the country where the effects of HIV and AIDS and environmental degradation are most pronounced. West Africa WUSC works in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Niger and Senegal through: - Uniterra - our volunteer cooperation program delivered in association with the Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI)
- Students Without Borders™ - a WUSC initiative that offers university and college students exciting volunteer learning opportunities in developing countries during an academic term.
Recent Projects Ghana: Completed in 2002, WUSC's Canada-Ghana Girl-Child Education Enhancement Project increased the enrolment and retention of young girls in grades one through nine in schools throughout northern Ghana. Read more Southern Africa: Through the Basic Education and Health Project, WUSC worked with local partners in Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia and Bangladesh to improve basic health care and education in some of these countries' poorest communities.
